Description

Strategic Risk Leadership

  • Develop and maintain the Bank’s strategic risk management framework, monitoring alignment with the Board Approved Risk Appetite and escalating deviations as required.
  • Identify, assess, and monitor risks that could materially impact the Bank’s strategic objectives, growth initiatives, and long-term sustainability.
  • Proactively scan the horizon for emerging risks, geopolitical developments, market disruptions, and regulatory changes that may affect the Bank’s strategy.
  • Own the computation and validation of the ICAAP, ILAAP, Recovery Planning etc. and lead stress testing exercises to evaluate the Bank’s resilience under various adverse scenarios.

Integration with Business Strategy

  • Partner with both at local and group level; Strategy, Finance, and Business units to ensure risk-adjusted decision-making in annual business planning, capital allocation, and strategic initiatives.
  • Recommend risk measurement methodologies to quantify risks in a consistent manner across the entity.
  • Contribute to the definition and monitoring of the Bank’s Risk Appetite Framework (RAF), ensuring it reflects strategic priorities and is cascaded across business lines.
  • Ensure that the cost of risk is effectively factored into business planning and budgeting processes.
  • Integrate strategic risk considerations with capital planning processes to ensure adequate capital allocation aligned with the Bank’s risk profile and growth strategy.

Governance & Oversight

  • Provide regular reporting and insights to the CRO, Risk Committees, and the Board on strategic and emerging risks, recommending proactive mitigation measures.
  • Support the CRO in regulatory discussions on strategic and enterprise risk topics, ensuring compliance with the Central Bank of Egypt requirements and international best practices.
  • Coordinate with other risk functions (credit, operational, cyber, reputational, etc.) to ensure holistic enterprise risk oversight.

Risk Culture & Capability Building

  • Promote a risk-conscious culture by embedding strategic risk considerations into decision-making at all levels of the Bank.
  • Develop internal tools, metrics, and dashboards for tracking and reporting strategic risk exposures.
  • Guide and mentor risk management teams to enhance analytical and forward-looking risk capabilities.

Risk Systems & Processes

  • Recommend risk measurement methodologies to quantify risks in a consistent manner across the entity covering credit, market, operational and regulatory risks.
  • Create and maintain an adaptive framework by recommending and making such changes as are necessary in response to:
    • Changes in business conditions or the Group’s risk appetite
    • Changes in regulation
    • Changes in technology
  • Implement a regime to monitor the ongoing effectiveness of the risk framework in risk, regulatory and operational terms, recommending such changes as may from time to time be required.
  • Review existing processes for the collation and production of KRI reports and implement or enhance as necessary.
  • Oversee development of new processes & procedures and implementation with respect to Risk Management and be the point of reference for all matters concerning risk.
  • Work closely with the Compliance and Internal Audit Departments to ensure the work of all areas mesh together with no gaps and appropriate “3 level” controls are maintained across all areas of the business.
  • A superior knowledge of Credit, Market, Counterparty, Reputational and other financial and non-financial risks.
  • Assist and support the CRO with all regulatory requirements including expert analysis of proposals, feedback and implementation to risk related outcomes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Risk Management, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, CFA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • 10+ years of risk management experience, with significant exposure to banking strategic risk, encompassing market & liquidity risk,  enterprise risk, Climate Risk and portfolio risk management.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven ability to deliver change especially in terms of technological/systemic implementations.
  • An understanding and ideally, first-hand experience of Risk management at a digital Bank.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leadership and drive risk-informed decision-making.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
