  • Develop and implement a comprehensive compliance strategy and framework aligned with the bank’s business objectives.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with CBE regulations, AML/KYC requirements, and other applicable laws.
  • Advise the executive leadership on regulatory changes, compliance risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee the design and execution of compliance monitoring, reporting, and audit programs.
  • Develop and implement compliance policies specifically for digital banking operations, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Integrate compliance into digital banking processes by collaborating with technology and business teams from product design to deployment.
  • Monitor and update policies to address evolving regulations and emerging risks in the digital banking landscape.
  • Collaborate with risk, operations, IT, and product teams to ensure regulatory requirements are embedded in processes and systems.
  • Manage interactions with regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders on compliance matters.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and training programs to raise compliance awareness across the organization.
  • Prepare regular compliance reports for the Board, senior management, and regulatory authorities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or related field from a reputable university.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in banking compliance, with at least 3 years in a leadership/CxO role.
  • Preferred certifications include CAMS, CFE, CRCM, CIA, CGRCP, CGEIT, CRISC, ISO 37001 Lead Implementer, ICA Diploma/Advanced Certificate, CIPP/E, CISA, or local CBE/FRA regulatory training.
  • Deep understanding of CBE regulations, AML/KYC, risk management, and banking compliance frameworks.
  • Proven experience in establishing compliance functions and governance structures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a start-up digital banking environment, implementing compliance from the ground up.
