Description
System Management:
- Deployment and Configuration: Plan and deploy new Linux servers, configure network settings, manage storage solutions, and integrate with existing infrastructure.
- Patch Management: Apply security patches and updates regularly to maintain system integrity and compliance.
- Resource Management: Optimize server performance by managing system resources like CPU, memory, and disk space.
User Support:
- Technical Assistance: Provide Tier 2/3 support for complex technical issues, collaborating with helpdesk and other IT teams.
- Training: Conduct training sessions for users and junior admins on Linux system usage and best practices.
Automation and Scripting:
- Task Automation: Develop and maintain automation scripts.
- Task Scripting: Implement and manage configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet).
Security:
- Access Control: Implement and manage access control policies, including user authentication and authorization.
- Audit and Compliance: Conduct regular security audits, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Incident Response: Develop and execute incident response plans to quickly address and mitigate security breaches.
- System hardening involves: Strong background in security practices and system hardening.
Backup and Recovery:
- Data Integrity: Ensure data integrity through regular backups, verifying backup completion and data recover-ability.
- Disaster Recovery: Design, test, and update disaster recovery plans to ensure minimal downtime and data loss in case of emergencies.
Collaboration:
- Project Management: Participate in IT projects, providing Linux expertise and ensuring successful project implementation.
- Vendor Management: Work with hardware and software vendors for support, maintenance, and procurement of Linux systems and related components.
Networking:
- Network Configuration: Configure and manage network services such as DNS, DHCP, NFS, and LDAP.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve network-related issues affecting Linux servers.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Performance Metrics: Set up and maintain monitoring systems to track server performance and health.
- Reporting: Generate regular reports on system performance, incidents, and resource utilization for management review.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, or information technology from a reputable university.
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or CompTIA Linux+ is highly desirable.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in Linux system administration.
- Strong understanding of Linux operating systems, including administration tools and commands.
- Experience with system administration tools like SSH, rsync, and sudo.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Shell.
- Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet).
- Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies like VMware.
- Fluency in English.
