Description

1. Process & Production Monitoring:

  • Oversee all stages of porcelain production, including body preparation (milling/spray-dried clay), pressing, glazing, and kiln firing.
  • Conduct rigorous visual and physical testing (e.g., density, shrinkage, thermal shock, water absorption, and modulus of rupture).
  • Utilize statistical quality control (SQC) and statistical process control (SPC) methods to track and improve production yield rates.
  • Investigate the root causes of product defects and implement immediate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

2. Raw Material & Supplier Quality:

  • Inspect incoming raw materials (clay, quartz, feldspar, glazes, and stains) for adherence to strict technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to evaluate supplier quality and resolve issues with off-spec materials.

3. Compliance & Auditing:

  • Manage the Quality Management System (QMS) ensuring compliance with international benchmarks (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 13006) and relevant local or regional standards.
  • Lead internal and external quality audits, ensuring traceability and accurate documentation throughout the plant.
  • Ensure finished porcelain products adhere to health, safety, and environmental guidelines.

4. Team Leadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Train, mentor, and lead QA/QC engineers and shift inspectors.
  • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for quality and continuously drive cost-reduction and scrap-reduction initiatives.
  • Address customer complaints and feedback by conducting technical analysis and facilitating product replacements or improvements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field from a reputable university.
  • 5+ years of progressive quality management experience, specifically within the ceramic or porcelain manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of ceramic body formulations, glaze chemistry, kiln operations, and lab testing procedures.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to successfully convey quality expectations to all floor-level staff and senior stakeholders.
