Description
  • Oversee the testing of body preparation stages, including ball milling, density, viscosity, residue analysis, and spray-dried clay moisture content.
  • Ensure structural integrity during pressing/shaping and monitor green-stage dimensions and strength.
  • Strictly monitor glaze preparation (density, application thickness) and kiln firing profiles (temperature distribution, cycle times) to avoid firing defects.
  • Conduct and supervise rigorous visual and physical laboratory testing, including:
    • Thermal shock resistance
    • Water absorption and porosity
    • Modulus of Rupture (MOR) / mechanical strength
    • Acid and alkali chemical resistance
  • Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Statistical Quality Control (SQC) methodologies to track yield data and systematically reduce scrap.
  • Investigate manufacturing defects (e.g., pinholes, warping, cracks, glaze crawling) using root-cause analysis tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, DMAIC) and execute immediate Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Verify that incoming raw materials (clay types, kaolin, quartz, feldspar, pre-formulated glazes, and metal oxides/stains) meet strict physical and chemical technical specifications before unloading.
  • Partner with procurement to assess vendor capabilities, audit suppliers, and issue non-conformance reports for off-spec raw batches.
  • Maintain and manage a QMS compliant with local and international benchmarks relevant to tableware and ceramics (e.g., ISO 9001, food-safety contact regulations for tableware, and regional standards).
  • Lead internal quality audits, facilitate external certification audits, and ensure airtight batch traceability protocols across the manufacturing floor.
  • Lead the technical investigation of any client product complaints or field returns, coordinating across production teams to implement structural fixes.
  • Manage, train, and set KPIs for QA/QC engineers, laboratory technicians, and shift floor inspectors.
  • Lead waste-reduction and 5S workplace organization initiatives on the production floor to foster a proactive "Quality at Source" culture.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a reputable university.
  • 10 years of quality experience within the Ceramics, Porcelain, Tableware, Sanitary Ware or related manufacturing industries, with at least 3 years in a managerial.
