  Description

  • Develops and implements safety policies to reduce accident-related costs and inefficiencies.
  • Monitors potential and actual environmental hazards. Participate in root and apparent cause analysis.
  • Maintains continuous survey readiness through compliance with regulations from several regulatory agencies, including The Joint Commission (TJC), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and identified industry best management practices.
  • Initiates and oversees the development of a comprehensive patient safety improvement program inclusive of the analysis and trending of data related to hospital initiatives.
  • Coordinates the environment of care, safety, security, emergency preparedness, medical equipment, hazardous materials and waste management, life safety, and utilities as they directly relate to the health care setting and the overall environment of care.
  • Develops and implements education programs and materials to train staff to detect, mitigate, and avoid workplace hazards. Provides technical guidance to management, surveyors, and other appropriate parties regarding occupational health and safety-related problems regarding accreditation standards.
  • Maintains regulatory readiness documentation, ensuring system follows regulatory standards and that they personnel are trained and ready for regulatory inspections.
  • Participates in incident investigation to identify causal factors to determine how incidents might be prevented in the future.
  • Works collaboratively with department heads to ensure that high quality work is performed, cost effective services are provided to patients and all users within the facility by monitoring standards of practice, customer satisfaction, operational and personnel budgets, and staff performance.
  • Prepares reports on completed tasks including preventive maintenance, ensuring regulatory compliance with the Department of Health, Joint Commission, and local agencies.
  • Maintains current knowledge of all applicable codes, regulations, standards, and accreditation requirements for area of responsibility.
  • Trains and updates employees on compliance requirements.
  • Ensures Medical center compliance and maintains required records.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
  • Ensure daily handover are sent to relevant stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree from reputable university is a must.Ensure that operations run smoothly during the construction and fit out of renovation spaces with no patient major complaints or feedback.

  Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from reputable university..
  • 5 years of experience in health and safety at a reputable hospital and experience in policy development and implementation, staff safety training, safety incident investigation, and reporting is a must.
  • Healthcare background is a must and outpatient clinics experience is a plus.
  • Proven experience in HSE practices.
  • Trained at Health and Safety National Institute.
  • Certificate in occupational health and safety (OSHA. /NEBOSH.)
  •  Candidates must have successfully graduated from a Safety Protection program. • Must be certified as a Fire Protection Specialist.
  •  In depth knowledge of legislation (e.g., OSHA/EPA/JCI. /GAHAR) and procedures • Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices.
  • Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety.
  • Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus.
  • Fluency in English is a must.
